The first weekend in April was the combined North American Alpaca Show and Northeast Alpaca Expo in MA. We’re very pleased with our 2 year old white male, Snowshoe Ammonoosuc, who took second place in both shows behind a spectacular male from Cas-Cad-Nac Farm.
Like his two brothers before him, Ammo has very fine and dense fiber with well defined crimp. He has excellent coverage on a large, well-proportioned frame. We anticipate Ammonoosuc will hold his fineness as he matures, just like his brothers, and become a significant contender in the show ring. Time will tell. For now, we couldn’t be more pleased with how Ammo is turning out and second place in these shows is a WIN!.
This year we will begin to use Ammo in our breeding program. He is available for a limited number of breedings at the low fee of $750. Click here for info and stats on Ammonoosuc.
One of the most rewarding parts of breeding and selling alpacas is seeing the impact of our breeding program on other farms and in the show ring. We were especially happy for our friends and clients who showed offspring of our male, Snowshoe Aristides, this spring. Tall Grass Raglan, owned by Tall Grass Farm, won the blue ribbon at the North American and second at the Northeast Expo. SFAF Aristides’ Amos, owned by Stonewall Fields Alpaca Farm, came in right behind Raglan, winning second and third at the two spring shows. You have to be familiar with alpaca shows to understand just how tough the competition is in these yearling white male classes!
