Buttoning up for winter

0

Fall has been gray, cold and wet here in northern Vermont. We’ve had a little snow on and off, but none that stuck.  This week, we’re getting a reprieve – the days are sunny, cool and dry! Our goal is to tackle as many of our “winterizing” chores as possible. There are still a few beds to weed in the vegetable garden, the perennial gardens need to be cut back and the winter chicken coop needs to be cleaned out and readied for the hens. Ron is spreading gravel in paddocks in places that turn muddy in the spring. I still have to remove screens, wash windows and pull down the storms.  Two bathrooms have to be cleaned and the water shut off for winter. Those are just the chores we need to do today!  Our list is always a lot longer than the day is… especially this time of year!
