You heard it here first! We are offering our multi-champion herdsire, Snowshoe Aristides, for sale at the Showtacular Pen Sale in Syracuse, NY on Oct 23-25.
We are so proud of Aristides. At seven years of age, his presence, his fiber and his temperament are still as impressive as ever. This is a male who is doing an excellent job of improving upon the females to whom he is bred. So much so that the majority of our foundation females are his daughters – or are related to him through his maternal line. Aristides’ dam, Hannah’s Julie, was the first cria born on our farm and still the best producer we have ever had in our breeding program. We have several of Julie’s daughters and their daughters.
Aristides’ record in the show ring speaks volumes: five times Color Champion, five time reserve Color Champion in very competitive halter shows. At five years of age, Aristides won one Color Champion, one Reserve Color Champion, two Judges’ Choice and one Spirit of the Industry award in fleece shows.
Aristides’ fleece from this spring’s shearing is to die for: 21.3 microns with a CV of 17.3 and only 1.5 over 30! And he still has a nice long staple.
Maybe the best thing about Aristides is his personality. Anyone who observed him in the show ring will recall a large male with a calm and imposing presence. He is still imposing, but he has always been easy to handle and gets along with the other males in the barn. He is also an eager and adept breeder. Ron uses Aristides for behavior testing no matter who is doing the breeding. He is dependable, discerning and easily managed.
We can no longer put Aristides to full use in our breeding program, so it’s time to diversify our genetics. This is a fantastic opportunity for one serious breeder (or several breeders) to purchase an all around outstanding male.
