It’s difficult to believe that autumn begins in a couple days! The summer has flown by and the weather in recent weeks has been so warm that it has not prompted thoughts of fall.
This morning, however, we woke to a temp of 34, a brisk reminder that the season is changing – and fast! The light is different and the trees are turning color. And at Snowshoe Farm we are busy dyeing yarn and preparing for fall fiber festivals. This year you can find us at the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival on Oct 3 & 4 and at the New York State Sheep & Wool Festival on Oct 17 & 18.
We will have a beautiful selection of alpaca yarns in natural and hand dyed colors. We’ll also have natural and dyed alpaca fiber for felting. The felting fiber will be washed and picked and ready for you to card or otherwise work into a felting project. Later this week we will sort through our best fleeces and skirt a few for the Fleece Show & Sale at Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival. And, as usual, we will offer patterns, needles and hooks and Greener Shades dyes.
Our online store is currently offline and will be until fiber festivals are over and we’ve updated our inventory in late October.
And if fiber festivals aren’t enough to keep us busy, we’re looking forward to participating in the EAA & NEAOBA Fall Showtacular in Syracuse, NY. This event includes two alpacas shows over the course of one long weekend. The buzz is that alpaca owners are very excited about this show We’re looking forward to the competition and to seeing many alpaca friends at the show!
