Seems like we just finished up with spring shows! Where did summer go??
We finally managed to complete our registrations for the upcoming fall alpaca shows. Snowshoe Farm will be attending both the Green Mountain Alpacas Fall Spectacular on Oct 19 & 20 and the Empire Alpaca Extravaganza on Oct 26 & 27. We (Ron, actually) will be showing four yearling females. We’d like to introduce them to you:
Snowshoe Ginger is an old hand at the show thing – she did well at two spring shows and is coming back for more. This daughter of our mulit-champion herdsire, Snowshoe Aristides, has beautiful fawn fiber, a nice temperament and excellent conformation. The judges loved her in the spring and we expect no less this season with her new growth.
Snowshoe Caleen is from the same line as Aristides on his dam’s side. This has been a very dependable, high quality line for us and Caleen is no exception. Her white fiber is very fine and uniform. Her temperament is a bit shy, but she is doing well with training for the show ring. We have a lot of this girl’s bloodlines on our farm and would love to see her go to a new breeding program with a top quality stud.
Snowshoe FancyPants has lovely fawn fiber and is starting to warm up to us. Like her dam, she was pretty skittish, but Ron’s patient handling and training is paying off. We’ll see how she acts in the show ring! This girl’s dam was a champion at this age – we’ll see if her daughter can measure up!
Last, but in no way least, is Skye Snow. This lovely beige female is owned by a client and offered for sale on consignment by Snowshoe Farm. We LOVE her fiber. The luster alone is worth a look. Skye is sired by Starry’s Rastaban, a fawn male who is getting more “dates” on our farm as we are seeing what he’s capable of producing.
