Time to plan your fencing!

First day of spring 2019 at Snowshoe Farm Alpacas, Peacham, Vermont

Happy Spring from the Northeast Kingdom!

It’s the first day of spring, but it still looks more like winter in northern Vermont. Since the ground is covered with snow, we do more work on paper than in the field this time of year. Planning our farm fencing is one of the things we work on during the winter. At this point, it usually means fence repairs or modifications, since we have no need to further expand our pastures. But fences require regular maintenance, and there’s always a fencing project – or two – that require our attention.

In addition to our own fencing needs, Ron spends most of the summer and fall installing livestock fencing for others. His clients are mostly farms, but he is finding that farm fencing can be useful in many settings and he’s had a wide range of different projects.

In general, Ron works in northeast Vermont and northwest New Hampshire. If you’re located outside this area, contact Ron to discuss feasibility.

Our supplier for fencing materials is Wellscroft Fence Systems, which insures both quality materials and fair prices. We use a tractor-mounted post pounder which provides a superior means of installing fence posts.

Ron already has a number of fence projects lined up for this year, but might be able to fit in a few more. If you’re planning to add fencing to your farm, contact Ron to discuss your options.
