A Look at One Line in our Breeding Program
This mild non-wintry weather must be good for something, so we went out and took a few new photos of our alpacas. We’d like to show off several related females in our herd who are carrying beautiful, fine fleeces.
Snowshoe Pleione is an 8 year old proven female. Her sire is our multi-champion male, Snowshoe Artistides. We are offering Pleione for sale at a low price since we have both her daughter and her granddaughter. Pleione is currently open, but we would definitely consider breeding her back to Starry’s Rastaban.
Snowshoe Lauren is Pleione’s daughter. She was born in 2017. At 5 years old, she has a lovely 21 micron fleece. Lauren gave birth to a female in 2021 and proved to be an excellent mother. Although Lauren is a very light fawn, she has quite a bit of color in her background and we opted to breed her to our black male, CCNF Onyx, for a 2023 cria. We’re looking forward to seeing the result of this mating!
The Younger Generation
In addition to the mother and daughter described above, we also have Lauren’s yearling daughter, Snowshoe Butter Cup. This beauty is not yet listed for sale. She is almost a carbon copy of her dam, compact in size with a very fine fleece. Her histogram is 17.37/3.16/18.18/100. Butter Cup’s sire, Xanadu P Concerto, has been a dependable producer of fine-fleeced offspring.
Some of the best genetics in our breeding program are represented in these females. It’s very satisfying to see important traits related to fiber quality passed along and improved in successive generations.
Please contact us if you’d like more information on these females or any of the other alpacas at Snowshoe Farm.
