It was good to see a healthy and active cria on the ground first thing this morning! Yesterday’s baby is still weak and we’re fairly sure he has a health problem. But he’s nursing when we stand him up and the rest of the time he’s comfortably cushed next to his dam.
This morning Cassiopeia had a male cria. She is rose gray and this male is fawn with a bit of white showing. We’ll have to wait and see whether more white and gray show up; it sometimes takes a few months. This guy is up and walking around and nursing well. We’ll let him and his mother out into the pasture with the rest of the “maternity ward” later this morning.

He looks big! What did you name him? Something appropriate for his birthday I’m sure…Independence, Celebration, Freedom?
Congratulations and Happy Fourth to you and Ron.

He doesn’t have a name yet, but it will have some connection to the fourth. Hope you had a great holiday -nice photos!
