This is some of the first “down time” we’ve had since shows and fiber festivals started in late September. Ron and I are doing NOTHING for Thanksgiving (turkey dinner with friends on the weekend). We’ve kept the day open in case of good weather so we can finish up more of the chores that need to be done here before winter sets in.
This morning is cold, but sunny, and the forecast is for a ‘wintry mix” starting tonight. Good timing. Today I’ll finish getting the winter coop ready and we’ll move the chickens when it starts to get dark. For those of you who don’t know chickens’ habits, they go in to roost when it gets dark and they don’t move. That makes it easy for us to pick them up and bring them in to the winter coop.
I still need to unpack after the last of the fiber festivals. While it’s sleeting and snowing tomorrow, I’ll unpack and reorganize the farm store. We often have visitors and yarn shoppers over the holiday weekend.
And, of course, we still have the usual chores: feeding and watering all the critters and cleaning all the alpaca barns. No holiday from that!
