Lace shawls and shawlettes are very popular knitting projects and there’s no better use for a luxuriously fine, drapey alpaca yarn.
I just finished the Annis shawlette in 100% hand dyed alpaca from Snowshoe Farm.
Annis is a fairly easy pattern. Just be sure to set up for the nupps by working LOOSELY on the knit side. Trust me, it will make the purl 7 together on the purl side work a lot more easily. You can download the pattern for free here.
Shawls are one of my favorite knitting projects, but socks are the best. Who doesn’t love a pair of handknit socks?!
My friend, Anne Podlesak, from Wool Wonka Fiber, is my go-to designer for many patterns, including socks. The Shingle Creek Trail sock is one I’ve knitted several times and I never get tired of this pattern. Our sock yarn is a 3 ply blend of alpaca, merino and tencel. Not only is it a great sock yarn, but it’s an exceptionally lovely yarn for shawls and scarves with it’s soft hand and beautiful luster.
Our yarns are available for sale on our shop website at VermontAlpacaYarn.com. New lace weight yarn colors will be available as soon as we get pictures to upload to the website. We also will be revamping our website in order to offer patterns as downloads in the near future.
