Wow – didn’t fall fiber festival season just begin? Well, it’s over for us! In past years, we’ve done more events and had a longer season. But we’ve eliminated festivals that were not convenient or good markets for us and this year scheduled only two. The last one of the season was this past weekend in Rhinebeck, NY.
The NYS Sheep & Wool Festival is an amazing event and one that we really enjoy. This year the weather was perfect and the crowds were – well – BIG! Those of you that have been to this event know all about trying to elbow your way through some of the buildings to your favorite vendors. But, while many complain about the crowds, we all know that the energy of this event depends, at least in part, on the many and diverse people who attend.
This year, Snowshoe Farm was lucky enough to get a new and larger booth (we had a shared space in the past). We haven’t really moved – just over into the next space. We’re still in Barn 26 and will be again next year. We had only short notice about the new booth space, but will be prepared to make better use of the space next year with more fiber and yarn!
It was wonderful to see so many regular friends and customers and to meet new ones. The parade of handcrafted garments and accessories that passes through our barn over the course of the weekend is one of the highlights of the festival. Amazing! And inspiring! I come home with lots of ideas for new patterns, yarns and color combinations. I have the fiber; I just need more time!
We want to thank all the folks who came to see us at fiber festivals this month. We invite you to visit our farm store website at vermontalpacayarn.com. Once I have time to unpack and check inventory, I’ll update our website with yarns for sale. I’ll post when we’re ready.
