Spring Alpaca Show Season Update

0

Snowshoe Farm is in the middle of our rather short spring show season (two shows). Nationals is behind us. At that event, we offered a yearling female, Snowshoe Ginger, for sale in the auction and are pleased to announce that the winning bidder was Hickory Meadow Alpaca Farm. We hope this beautiful daughter of Snowshoe Aristides will be a valuable addition to their breeding program.

As a participant in the Herdsire Auction, Snowshoe Aristides was on display throughout the weekend. It was nice to be able to showcase this special macho in front of alpaca farms from across the country. We appreciate the effort AOA made to get the word out about both the alpaca auction and the herdsire auction.

Also on display at Nationals were two juvenile males, Snowshoe Ammonoosuc and Snowshoe Applejack. Applejack took fourth place in his fawn class. Ammonoosuc did not place in his white class…we have high hopes for him, though, and he has a few more shows this year in which to prove himself in front of the judges.

We should note here that 2014 is our 15th year raising alpacas and to celebrate we are offering 15% off all alpacas and breedings,  including breedings to Snowshoe Aristides, 10X Champion/Reserve Champion.

Coming up next is the North American Alpaca Show in West Springfield, MA on April 5 – 6. Ammonoosuc and Applejack will have another chance in the show ring. We will also be showing a two year old unproven male, Jubellita’s Jinx. This handsome fawn male is an offspring of Snowshoe Aristides with an interesting and colorful pedigree on his dam’s side. Jinx is for sale and he is also available for breeding at a low fee of $500 (plus 15% off!) so that we can get some of his babies on the ground.

After the North American Alpaca Show , spring show season will be over for Snowshoe Farm and shearing season will begin. Given the below zero temps and feet of snow still on the ground here, that’s rather difficult to believe. But mud season, then spring will arrive eventually…at least that’s what we’re telling ourselves.
