We’ve had a number of inquiries as to why we don’t show prices on the three yearling alpacas we have listed for sale. Often, we don’t bother to list our younger alpacas for sale until they are a bit older. For the most part, we just like to wait and see how the alpacas do as they mature. We’re not only looking at fleece quality, but conformation and overall health and vitality.
Our current sales list includes three alpacas that were born in 2015, two females and one male. All have been healthy from the start and all have very promising fleeces. For those that want to see numbers, we should be getting histograms back soon and will add them to the listings. For now, these three alpacas have no prices; if you’re interested, please get in touch.
Here’s an introduction to our three yearlings:
Snowshoe Sweet Cicely is several generations removed from the first cria born on our farm, Hannah’s Julie, dam of Snowshoe Aristides. This line has been phenomenal for our breeding program. We have a number of related females, of whom we breed only one or two each year. Sweet Cicely’s dam, Skye Snow is one of the nicest and we’ve just reduced her price.
Snowshoe Haiku is a third generation female in our herd. Her dam, Snowshoe FancyPants, is an Aristides daughter. Haiku is my (Terry’s) personal favorite of last year’s crias and I’m anxious to see how her fleece comes in.
Last, but not least, is Snowshoe Allegro, our male yearling. This boy has amazing luster and a very calm temperament. His dam, Spirit Wind’s Minuette, brought some interesting new genetics to our herd. She and Allegro are co-owned with our friends at Spirit Wind Farm.
We anticipate showing all three yearling in the fall.
